Myxomatose

Ätiologie und Vorkommen

Die Myxomatose (Kaninchenpest) ist eine durch Pockenerreger ausgelöste Viruserkrankung, die ausschließlich unter Hasen und Kaninchen auftritt.

Übertragung

Die Übertragung des Virus findet am häufigsten durch stechende Insekten statt. Ein wirksamer Mückenschutz ist deshalb gerade bei industrieller Tierhaltung wichtig. Ferner kann das Virus durch direkten Kontakt von Tier zu Tier oder von Mensch zu Tier übertragen werden. Eine Infektion durch frisches Grünfutter ist auch möglich. Nach einer Inkubationszeit von 2 bis 5 Tagen treten die ersten Symptome auf.

Klinik/Symptome

Akuter Verlauf

Beim akuten Verlauf der Krankheit treten Schwellungen und Entzündungen im Bereich der Augenlider, des Mundes, der Ohren, der Lippen und des Genitalbereiches auf. Nach circa 14 Tagen endet die Krankheit mit dem Tod.

Chronischer Verlauf

Beim chronischen Verlauf der Krankheit treten vermehrt Pusteln auf. Eine Heilung ist in Einzelfällen möglich.

Behandlung/Mortalität

Für Myxomatose gibt es keine spezielle Behandlung. Je nach Virulenz liegt die Mortalität bei 20-100%. Vorbeugend kann jedoch eine halbjährliche Impfung Schutz gegen eine Infektion bieten.
