Elektromagnetno zračenje

Svaka supstanca koja ima električna ili magnetna svojstva je u stanju da emituje zrake određene talasne dućine i frekvencije, pa takvo zračenje nazivamo elektromagnetnim.Električno i magnetno polje su vezani u jednu specifičnu jedinku tako da se u modernoj nauci ne odvajaju jedno od drugog, što je poznato iz činjenice da je moguće pomoću magneta inducirati stuju, a oko svakog provodnika detektovati magnetno polje.Stoga je ovo zračenje označeno kao ElektroMegnetno. U fizici postoji pojam koji jasno definiše određene specifičnosti ovog zračenja, a zove se spektar elektromagnetnog zračenja.Taj spektar klasificira zračenje po talasnoj dužini, odnosno frekvenciji EM (elektromagnetnih) talasa u grupe koje imaju slična svojstva.Tako postoje npr. Radio valovi, Incracrveni valovi, Vidljiva svjetlost, Ultraljubičasta svjetlost, Gamma zrake itd. Svaka od ovih grupa nalazi se u jednom određenom "frekventnom prostoru", što znači da samo određenoj grupi pripadaju određene frekvencije i talasne dužine...npr. vidljiva svjetlost se kreće na talasnim dužinama između 350 i 750 nM (nanometara). -> r.g.
