The Pillsbury "A" Mill, situated along Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was once the largest flour mill in the world. It was operated by Pillsbury and used two of the most powerful direct-drive waterwheels ever built, each putting out 1,200 horsepower (895 kW). Over time, several neighboring structures were added. The building has ceased operation as a mill, and plans are in place to convert it into a loft-style apartment complex containing 759 to 1,095 housing units.
