Lingvistika

Lingvistika (lingua je latinsky jazyk) neboli jazykověda je věda o jazycích, jejich třídění, stavbě, zvukové i psané podobě.

Přístupy lingvistiky

Zkoumání jazyka se děje za použití dvou základních přístupů:
- synchronního – kdy se daný jazyk či fenomén studuje tak, jak „leží“ v daném momentě
- diachronního – kdy se daný jazyk či fenomén nahlíží ve svém vývoji. Synchronní přístup můžeme přirovnat k fotografii, diachronní k filmu. Synchronní hledisko přitom neznamená zkoumání pouze současného jazyka, ale průřez jazykovým systémem v dané době (např. jazyk 14. století). Diachronní přístup zkoumá především vývojové vztahy mezi elementy. V badatelské praxi je nutné oba přístupy striktně odlišovat.

Dělení lingvistiky

Lingvistiku lze dělit podle různých kritérií:
- Podobory studující konkrétní jazyky (např. bohemistika, anglistika, hispanistika, sinologie, japonologie atd., které studují češtinu, angličtinu, španělštinu, čínštinu, japonštinu atd.) nebo jazykové rodiny, větve, skupiny (slavistika, germanistika, romanistika, orientalistika, indoevropeistika atd.).
- Podobory studující určitou složku jazyka: fonetika, fonologie, morfologie a syntax, lexikologie a sémantika, stylistika, etymologie, dialektologie.
- Obory studující jazyk z různých úhlů pohledu a obory na pomezí lingvistiky: typologie a srovnávací jazykověda, psycholingvistika, matematická a počítačová lingvistika, korpusová lingvistika, logika.
