RumsondeEn rumsonde er et ubemandet, videnskabeligt, undersøgende rumfartøj. En rumsonde kan vende tilbage til jorden, hvis den er programmeret til det, men kan også være på en envejs-mission f. eks. Voyager-sonderne, som er på vej ud af vores solsystem efter at have besøgt de fleste planeter.

Solsystem
Et solsystem eller planetsystem består af mindst en stjerne med et antal objekter i kredsløb omkring (såsom planeter, måner, småplaneter (asteroider) og kometer).
I daglig tale omtaler vi normalt vores eget solsystem med Jorden og Solen som solsystemet, dette vil vi også gøre i denne artikel. Andre solsystemer vil ofte være omtalt som planetsystemer for at undgå forvirring.
