The MV Arctic is an icebreaker built in 1978 at the Port Weller Dry Docks located in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
Designed to carry both oil and ore, the vessel is not only ice strengthened but has a Baltic 1A Super ice rating. This means it is powerful enough to navigate through many ice covered waters unescorted. The MV Arctic routinely services mines in the high Canadian Arctic such as Polaris and Nanisivik.
