Il Canton Argovia (tedesco Aargau, francese Argovie, romancio Argovia) è uno dei cantoni più settentrionali della Svizzera. Comprende la parte bassa del corso del fiumeAar, che da il nome al cantone (Aargau significa Distretto dell'Aar).
Geografia
L'area totale del cantone è di 1.404 km², la sua popolazione di circa 550.000 abitanti (dati del 2002). La capitale è Aarau. Confina con la Germania (LandBaden-Württemberg) a nord. Ad ovest si trovano il Canton Basilea Campagna, il Canton Soletta e il Canton Berna. Il Canton Lucerna giace a sud, mentre il Canton Zurigo e il Canton Zugo sono a est.
Il Canton Argovia è uno dei meno montagnosi della Svizzera, e forma parte di una grande piana a nord delle Alpi e ad est delle Montagne del Jura, sulla quale si ergono basse colline. La superficie del terreno è graziosamente diversificata, tratti ondulati e foreste fitte si alternano con vallate fertili irrigate principalmente dall'Aar e dai suoi affluenti.
Nel Canton Argovia si trovano le famose sorgenti sulfuree di Baden e Schinznach, mentre a Rheinfelden ci sono delle grandi sorgenti saline. Appena sotto Brugg il fiume Reuss e il Limmat si uniscono all'Aar, mentre attorno a Brugg si trovano le rovine del castello degli Asburgo, il vecchio convento Koenigsfelden (con dei fini vetri dipinti medioevali) e i resti dell'insediamento Romano di Vindonissa (Windisch).
I terreni del Canton Argovia sono i più fertili della Svizzera. Allevamento di mucche, coltivazione di cereali e frutteti sono le principali attività economiche del cantone. L'industria è sviluppata, particolarmente nel campo dell'ingegneria elettrica, degli strumenti di precisione, nella produzione di ferro, acciaio e cemento.
Ci sono delle centrali nucleari a Beznau. Un numero significativo di persone fa il pendolare con il centro finanziario della città di Zurigo, appena oltrepassato il confine cantonale.
Il turismo è di proporzioni significative, dovuto in particolar modo alle sorgenti calde di Baden e Schinznach Bad. Il trekking è un'altra fonte di turismo, ma di importanza limitata.

Millbrook USA is het dertigste album van Golden Earring (inclusief de live-platen).
Na een sabbatical year en de uiterst succesvolle compilatie-cd The Devil Made Us Do It (2000) reist Golden Earring in juni en oktober 2002 tweemaal naar de Verenigde Staten. Een paar uur rijden van New York trekt het viertal zich met vriend Frank Carillo terug in Millbrook om daar in een studio een nieuwe cd op te nemen. Vandaar de titel Millbrook USA. Het resultaat is een ongecompliceerde rechtoe-rechtaan-rockalbum zonder al te veel overdubs en geavanceerde studiotechnieken. Het op het eerste gehoor homogene album geeft in de details zijn nuances prijs. Vergelijk The Hammer of Love, Albino Moon, Skyscraper Hell of a Town en Better Off Dead met elkaar. Colourblind gaat over wijlen Herman Brood, in On a Night Like You wordt een actrice uit de X-files in herinnering gebracht. Bovendien een eervolle vermelding voor het opmerkelijke A Sound I Never Heard. Millbrook USA sluit af met The Last Frontier Hotel, een typische Kooymans-ballad en broertje van Hold Me Now en Whisper In a Crowd.
