Mäxmüd khan // (in Russian chronicles Махмутек (Makhmutek)) (?-1467) was a ruler (khan) of Kazan Khanate in (1445-1467), an elder son of Oluğ Möxämmäd. He is reputed to be one of the khanate's founders. He participated in father's campaigns agains Muscovy. In 1445 he won the battle of Suzdal and took captive Grand Duke of Moscow Vassily II, forced Russia to pay yasaq. After death of Olug Moxammat, he occupied Kazan's throne. In December of 1446 he supported Vassily II to dethrone Dmitry Shemyaka. In 1448 he attacked Moscow to keep advantageous conditions of treaty that was concluded after battle of Suzdal. In that period Qasim Khanate was crated as a buffer-state between Moscovy and Khanate of Kazan, governed by Maxmud's relatives.
