Neliökilometri

Neliökilometri (lyhenne km²) on pinta-alan yksikkö. Yksi neliökilometri on 1000 metriä × 1000 metriä eli 1 000 000 neliömetriä tai hehtaareina ilmaisten 100 hehtaaria. Luokka:Pinta-alayksiköt

Pinta-ala

Pinta-ala (tunnus A) on alueen koon mitta, pinta-ala kertoo kuinka suuri jokin kuvio on alueeltaan.

Yksiköitä

Pinta-alan SI-johdettu yksikkö on neliömetri (m²). Isompiin alueisiin käytetään usein neliökilometriä (km²). Viljelysmaata ja metsää mitataan usein hehtaareissa (1 ha = 0,01 km²). Se on toisen maa-alan mitan, aarin (a), moninkerta – nimensä mukaisesti (heht(o)aari) sata aaria. Aaria ei enää juurikaan käytetä.

Kaavoja

- Neliö tai muu suorakulmio: A = l · w (jossa l on pituus ja w on leveys); neliön tapauksessa l = w.
- Ympyrä: A = π · r² (jossa r on säde)
