Ardabil (Stadt)Ardabil (persisch: اردبیل //, auch Ardebil, aserbaidschanisch: اردبیل / Erdebil/) ist eine im Nordwesten des Iran in der gleichnamigen Provinz gelegene Stadt.
Die Stadt Ardabil ist bekannt für ihre traditionelle Seiden- und Teppichherstellung. In der Umgebung wird ferner Bewässerungsfeldbau betrieben.
Ardabil ist eine sehr alte Siedlung - der Name wird auf avestisch Artavil "Heiliger Platz" zurückgeführt. Durch ihre Lage an wichtigen Handelsrouten war Ardabil seit dem Mittelalter von Bedeutung, die Stadt beherbergt auch das Grab des Scheich Safi ad-Din, der der Safawiden-Dynastie den Namen gab.
Aus Ardabil stammt der Fußballer und mehrfache Welttorjäger Ali Daei.
