Événements

- Règne en Inde de Prithivisena roi de Vakataka au Dekkan (fin en 445).
- Concile de Séleucie : les chrétiens d’Iran s’organisent en Eglise à moitié nationale. Ils adoptent le credo de Nicée.
- Sac de Rome : Les Wisigoths conduits par Alaric Ier prennent et pillent Rome, qui n'avait pas été prise depuis 390 avant J.-C. Cet évènement marquant est, selon les acceptions, une fin de l'Antiquité et un passage au Haut Moyen Âge.
- Les Wisigoths d’Alaric, maîtres de la côte, réduisent Rome à la famine, puis entrent dans la ville par la porte Salaria, peut-être grâce à la trahison. Rome est pillée, avec la recommandation d’Alaric d’épargner la vie des hommes et l’honneur des femmes (24 août). Défense est faite de brûler les édifices religieux (les basiliques de Saint-Paul et de Saint-Pierre sont érigés en asile inviolable). Cependant une partie de la ville est brûlée. De nombreux Romains s’enfuient en Afrique, en Égypte et jusqu’en Palestine. Alaric quitte la ville en emmenant avec lui Galla Placidia, sœur de l’empereur. Il avance vers le sud de l’Italie, qui reste à piller, comptant passer en Afrique. Il prend Naples, mais meurt à la fin de l’année, en tentant de passer en Sicile. Son beau-frère Athaulf lui succède et repart vers le nord.
- Constance, général élevé au rang de maître de la milice, prend la direction du gouvernement en Occident.
- Alaric exige une raçon de 5000 livres de poivre pour évacuer Rome.
- Les Wisigoths s’emparent d’Orange.
- Départ définitif des Romains de Bretagne. Les Calédoniens en profitent pour renouveler leurs attaques.
- Suite au sac de Rome par Alaric, de nombreux Romains se réfugient en Orient et en Afrique. Augustin intervient personnellement en faveur des réfugiés et fait appel à la générosité de ses diocésains d’Hippone.
- Les invasions barbares en Espagne (409) provoquent également le repli en Afrique de nombreux Romains, dont des évêques.

Cortex cerebri

Der Cortex cerebri, d.h. die Rinde des Großhirns (Telencephalon), zeichnet sich bei vielen Säugetieren durch zahlreiche Windungen (griech. Gyri, Singular Gyrus), Spalten (lat. Fissurae, Sing. Fissura) und Furchen (lat. Sulci, Sing. Sulcus) aus. Bei der Furchung des Cortex unterscheidet man eine Primärfurchung, die bei allen Idividuen annähernd gleich ist, von einer Sekundär- und Tertiärfurchung, die so individuell wie ein Fingerabdruck sein können. Gefurchte Gehirne bezeichnet man als gyrenzephal. Bei einigen Kleinsäugern (z.B. Nagetiere, Igel) und bei Vögeln besitzt der Cortex keine Furchen (lissenzephales Gehirn). Der Cortex lässt sich grob in vier Lappen (Lobi) einteilen:
- Frontallappen (Lobus frontalis)
- Parietallappen oder Scheitellappen (Lobus parietalis)
- Temporallappen oder Schläfenlappen (Lobus temporalis)
- Occipitallappen (Lobus occipitalis) Nach zellarchitektonischen Gesichtspunkten wurde die Großhirnrinde des Menschen von Korbinian Brodmann in 52 Areale unterteilt (Brodmann-Areale oder -Felder).
