מירנדה (ירח)
מירנדה הוא הירח הפנימי והקטן ביותר מבין ירחיו העיקריים של אורנוס.
פני שטחו של מירנדה ,כלל הנראה,עשויים מקרח מימי, ואלה עוטפים את גופו שצפיפותו נמוכה ,גוף זה עשוי מסיליקטים (חמצן + סיליקון + מתכת כל שהיא) , סלע, מתאן ותרכובות אורגניות אחרות.
פני שטחו של מירנדה נחצים לאורכם ולרוחבם ע"י קניונים שעומקם מגיע עד לכדי-20 ק"מ עומק , על פני הירח ישנם מבנים גאולוגיים רבים כגון: מכתשים,רכסים ועוד מבנים נוספים , מבנים אלו מעידים כי בשלב כל שהוא בעברו של הירח , הירח היה פעיל אינטנסיבית מבחינה גאולוגית,וכך מבנים גאולוגיים אלו נוצרו.
פעילות גאולוגית זו כנראה הונעה והוזנה ע"י כוחות הגאות (שמתחו את פני הירח כלפי מעלה ומטה וכך נוצר חום),שיוצר אורנוס בכוח משיכתו הגדול , אולם תאוריה נוספת גורסת כי אובייקט שמימי גדול פגע בירח וריסק חלקית את פני הירח.
