TesisTesis (Engelse titel: Thesis, "These") is een Spaanse film uit 1996 en het regiedebuut van de Spaans-Chileense regisseur Alejandro Amenábar. Hij schreef de film samen met Mateo Gil. De film won zeven Goya Awards, waaronder die voor beste film in 1997. Acteurs die in de film verschijnen zijn Ana Torrent, Fele Martinez en Eduardo Noriega.
Synopsis
Ángela (Torrent) is een filmstudent aan de universiteit in Madrid. Ze zoekt naar bronmateriaal voor een scriptie over geweld in de film. Ze raakt bij haar zoektocht bevriend met Chema (Martinez), een medestudent met een encyclopedische verzameling met films vol geweld en pornografie. Nadat haar professor sterft tijdens het kijken naar een film, steelt ze de videoband en ontdekt ze dat het een snufffilm is. Chema herkent het slachtoffer in deze film. Volgens hem was het een studente van hun universiteit die enkele jaren geleden spoorloos verdween. Tijdens hun zoektocht naar de oorsprong van de band, komen zij in contact met een koelbloedige moordenaarsbende.

Alejandro AmenábarAlejandro Fernando Amenábar Cantos (31 maart 1972, Santiago de Chile, Chili) is een Chileens-Spaanse filmregisseur. Hij staat bekend als een van de meest invloedrijke Spaanstalige regisseurs, alhoewel hij slechts vier films heeft geregisseerd.
Amenábar werd geboren in Santiago de Chile in 1972, en heeft een Spaanse moeder en een Chileense vader. De familie verhuisde in 1973 naar Spanje, waardoor Amenábar een dubbele nationaliteit verkreeg. Hij studeerde uiteindelijk filmwetenschappen aan de Universidad Complutense van Madrid maar haakte voortijdig af — later gebruikte hij de naam van een van zijn docenten aldaar, Castro, voor een professor in zijn filmdebuut, Tesis.
Naast het schrijven en het leiden van zijn eigen films, heeft Amenábar een opmerkelijke carrière als componist van filmmuziek. Hij componeerde onder andere de muziek voor La lengua de las mariposas van José Luis Cuerda.
Amenábar ontving in 2004 de Grote Juryprijs bij het Internationaal Filmfestival van Venetië in 2004 voor Mar adentro; in februari 2005 won dezelfde film een Academy Award voor Beste Film in een Vreemde Taal.

SnuffSnuff-seks is een sadistische ondervorm van necrofilie waarbij iemand seksueel genot beleeft aan het verkrachten en vermoorden van een ander persoon. Het fenomeen staat centraal in de thriller "8mm".
Volgens sommigen bestaan in het illegale circuit ook de zogenaamde snuff-films, waarin een echte verkrachting, gevolgd door een moord, wordt getoond. Deze films zouden voor grof geld worden verkocht. Dit berust vermoedelijk op een mythe, er is nog nooit een echte snuff-film gevonden.
Dit neemt niet weg dat een dergelijke sadistische voorkeur heel goed denkbaar is. Lustmoorden zijn immers zo oud als de mensheid zelf, en bij veel seriemoordenaars speelde seksueel genot een grote rol. Ook zullen er ongetwijfeld mensen zijn die hierover fantaseren. De sterk seksueel getinte moord van Issei Sagawa op Renée Hartevelt zou men onder de categorie "snuff" kunnen scharen. Medio oktober 2005 is een aantal personen tot gevangenisstraffen tot 14 jaar veroordeeld omdat zij drie jonge vrouwen opsloten en tot (dieren)seks dwongen. Zij hadden plannen voor een snuffilm, maar deze werden door hun arrestatie verijdeld.

Inside, OutsideInside, Outside is a 1985 Herman Wouk novel telling the story of four generations of a Russian Jewish family and its travails in Russia and America. The book is a first person narrative told from the viewpoint of Israel David Goodkind, the third of the four generations in the book. The story unfolds as Goodkind works in a minor bureaucratic post in the White House between March and October 1973; his insignificance gives him time to work on his memoirs (the book itself, which is told as though Goodkind wrote it) while his position gives him opportunities to come face to face with the harried President Richard Nixon.
The story alternates between Goodkind's story of his family history and early years (specifically, his first 26 years (1915-1941)) and his account of current events in 1973, leading up to the moment of the Yom Kippur War. The tales of Goodkind's early years center, naturally, around his family - his mother and father, his sister, his mother's father and father's mother, his mother's half sister, and a tribe of more distant uncles, aunts and cousins (the Mishpocha) - while the tales of his present day in 1973 are centered on his wife, his daughter, their friends, two of his old college friends from Columbia, and Nixon, and the tales of his twenties are centered on his first major flame Bobby Webb, his co-worker and roommate Peter Quat, and his boss Harry Goldhandler, a gagwriter for Broadway shows and radio comedy programs.
Among the famous people Goodkind comes face to face with in the course of the book besides Nixon are Golda Meir, Zero Mostel, Marlene Dietrich, and the Gershwin brothers.
