Football féminin

Le football féminin suit exactement les mêmes règles que le football pratiqué par les hommes. En revanche, le foot féminin possède une histoire propre en raison des tentatives masculines pour exclure les femmes du jeu. Aujourd'hui, le football féminin est loin, très loin, de posséder le même statut que son homologue masculin.

Histoire

Les femmes jouent au football depuis la fin du XIXe siècle en Angleterre. La France met en place le premier championnat national juste après la Première Guerre mondiale. Le tir de barrage contre la pratique du football par les femmes s'intesifie. Les instances masculines refusent d'admettre ces licenciées féminines et elles doivent s'organiser en fédération indépendante des deux côtés de la Manche. Le championnat de France de football féminin s'arrête en 1932. On attendra la seconde moitié des années 1960 pour assister au renouveau du football feminin.

Compétitions

Le première compétition de football féminin fut le championnat de France qui fut mis en place entre 1919 et 1932. Au niveau international, une première "Coupe d'Europe" est organisée en 1969. Elle met aux prises l'Angleterre, le Danemark, la France et l'Italie. Le football féminin n'étant pas reconnu officiellement par la FIFA et l'UEFA, cette compétition est « non officielle ». Au niveau mondial, la première Coupe du monde est jouée dès juillet 1970. C'est encore une compétition « non officielle ». Après de multiples organisations de ce type, l'UEFA (1984) puis la FIFA (1991) conviennent qu'il faut mettre en place des compétitions « officielles ».
