Higdem Township is a township located in Polk County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 99.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 60.6 km² (23.4 mi²). 60.2 km² (23.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.68% water.

Demographics

As of the census ² of 2000, there are 99 people, 37 households, and 28 families residing in the township. The population density is 1.6/km² (4.3/mi²). There are 38 housing units at an average density of 0.6/km² (1.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 96.97% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 3.03% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 3.03% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 37 households out of which 35.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.3% are married couples living together, 2.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.3% are non-families. 21.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 3.11. In the township the population is spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 130.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 118.2 males. The median income for a household in the township is $46,563, and the median income for a family is $52,500. Males have a median income of $41,250 versus $20,938 for females. The per capita income for the township is $18,333. 10.3% of the population and 13.3% of families are below the poverty line.
