A53 (Schweiz)

Die A53 (auch Oberlandautobahn) ist eine Autobahn der Kantone Zürich und St. Gallen in der Schweiz, welche vom Brüttiseller-Kreuz (ZH) nach Reichenburg (SZ) führen soll. Sie verbindet die Autobahnen A1 (Genf - Bodensee) und A3 (Basel - Zürich - Graubünden) östlich von Zürich. Im Jahr 2004 besteht noch eine Lücke zwischen Uster und Hinwil, die voraussichtlich erst im Jahre 2015 geschlossen werden soll. Mangel an finanziellen Mitteln und Einsprachen wegen der Linienführung durch das Riet zwischen Wetzikon und Hinwil verzögern die Schliessung dieser Lücke. Zwischen Rüti ZH und Eschenbach SG ist die Schnellstrasse zweispurig und nicht richtungsgetrennt. Noch wesentlich umstrittener ist die im kantonalen Richtplan geplante Verbindung vom Kreuz Brüttisellen über Bassersdorf nach Kloten mit Anschluss an die A51. Ob diese je gebaut werden kann, ist heute angesichts des Widerstands der betroffenen Gemeinden und verschiedener Interessensgruppen, mehr als fraglich.
