Mexicaans Federaal District
Het Federaal District of Distrito Federal (D.F.) is een gebied in Mexico dat geen deel uitmaakt van een deelstaat, maar dat vanuit de federale overheid bestuurd wordt. Het grootste deel van Mexico-stad ligt binnen het Federaal District.
The staat Mexico grenst aan drie kanten aan het DF, en de staat Morelos grenst aan het landelijke en bergachtige zuiden. Het DF heeft min of meer de vorm van een peer en een oppervlakte van 1.479 km². Volgens de census van het jaar 2000 heeft het DF 8.591.000 inwoners.
Tot 1997 werd het D.F. voor het grootste deel door de federale overheid geregeerd. In dat jaar werd er echter de functie van jefe de gobierno gecreëerd, om de bewoners van Mexico-stad meer inspraak in het bestuur te geven. De huidige jefe de gobierno is Alejandro Encinas.
Het Federaal district is ingedeeld in 16 delegaciones.
Mocht de Federale Overheid naar een andere locatie verhuizen, dan wordt het DF een staat genaamd Estado del Valle De México ("Staat van het Dal van Mexico").
